July is Ice Cream Month...HOORAY for celebrating creamy-frozen goodness ALL month long!

Strawberry Ice Cream | tablefortwoblog.com

We try to make homemade ice cream every Sunday during the summer months...but, we may just have to make our favorite treat a couple times a week now!

Pop Quiz (I was a teacher...remember?!?!)

Did you know that California is the leading producer of ice cream?
True story!

Here is a little more "Did ya' Know?"

*President and Californian, Ronald Reagan declared July "National Ice Cream Month" in 1984.

*It takes 12 lbs of Real California Milk to make 1 gallon of California ice cream.

*The worlds largest ice cream sandwich weighed about 2,500lbs.  Wow!

You can get more of "the scoop" at California Milk Advisory Board website.

Well, here is an ice cream sandwich...weighing in less than that record holder!

This is a perfect recipe for a 4th of July, patriotic crowd pleasing treat!
My girls and I will be making these to take to our backyard cookout...can't wait!

You will need:
prepared sugar cookie dough
Real CA Ice Cream...your favorite flavor
Icing...colored in red, white and blue

What you need to do:
Roll out the cookie dough and cut into rectangles...bake as directed
Decorate half of the baked cookies to look like our "Grand Ol' Flag!"
Scoop a generous amount of your ice cream on the undecorated cookie,
spread it evenly with a spoon or spatula and top with the decorated cookie.
Place on a wax paper lined platter and freeze for at least 30 minutes.
Enjoy!

We will be enjoying fireworks with tonight at my parent's home...I am looking
